How I Wrote My Talk in 24 Hours (and Why That’s Not a Bad Thing)
Proof that pressure isn’t the problem — misalignment is.
I had a month to prepare.
Plenty of time, right?
And yet… I sat down to finalise my talk the night before the event. Not because I was being lazy. Not because I didn’t care. But because I needed to feel it.
Welcome to the joy of being a Generator in Human Design — I move best when I respond in the moment. Too early, and it falls flat. Too scripted, and I lose the spark. I need to feel the energy behind something for it to flow.
So there I was, 9pm the night before, mapping out a 20-minute talk on a topic I live and breathe: how to clearly and confidently share what you do (aka nailing your elevator pitch).
And here’s the truth — it came together fast, because I know my work. I’ve embodied it. I’ve helped others do it. And when you’re deeply aligned with your message, the words are already there… they just need organising.
Here’s the framework I used to put the talk together (and you can totally steal this if you're ever asked to speak under pressure):
1. Choose 3 Key Points You Could Talk Underwater About
What are the 3 things you know about this topic that light you up? Keep it simple. Your job is clarity, not complexity.
2. Add a Story to Each One
Stories create emotional connection. They turn insight into impact. Think of moments where this point has played out in real life — for you or a client.
3. Add One Statistic, Quote or Metaphor
Some people connect emotionally, others love data. Give both brains something to latch onto. Bonus: it makes your talk more memorable.
4. Wrap with a Recap and Invitation
Close strong. Repeat your 3 key takeaways. Then tell people how to stay connected — whether that’s downloading a resource, joining your email list, or working with you directly.
It’s such a simple structure, but it works. And when you’re grounded in your message, you don’t need bells and whistles — just your voice and your truth.
The talk went really well. People came up after to say it resonated. Some even clapped (which is always a lovely surprise).
And in true Prue style, I also created a little something to help others clarify their pitch.

Thanks for being here. You don’t need more time — you need more trust in your voice.
